Lucía García Herrero
B. 1990, Madrid, Spain. Lives and works in Hove, UK.
I create artworks that are intuitive and delicate. I perceive and create instinctively which I find very freeing and satisfying. I play with shapes and lines, allowing my intuition to create spontaneous marks.
I refer to my practice as “free painting and drawing”; it involves working with various mediums, applying various painting and drawing techniques to create different forms and compositions. The colour palettes I use are on the soft side and convey a sense of peace and equilibrium. I approach each piece openly, not having an end result in mind, letting shapes and lines form freely and colours work together as a whole, building up a body of work that follows along with their constant unfolding.
There is a mindful and spiritual aspect to my practice that makes it deeply personal yet impersonal at the same time. My work emerges from within and from the outside world.
My practice explores different ways of visually reflecting that which is inherent in all life forms. I believe my work expresses and captures the life-force present in all realms of reality.
