Lucía García Herrero (B. 1990, Madrid, Spain. Lives and works in Hove, UK).
Lucía creates artworks that are intuitive and delicate. Her practice involves working with various painting and drawing mediums and techniques to create raw and sincere forms and compositions that evoke vulnerability; her colour palettes convey a sense of peace and equilibrium. Her work dwells in the hidden narratives of everyday objects and landscapes and it's inspired by the beauty of imperfection and decay.
Lucía is currently pursuing a MA in Fine Art at the University of Brighton.
'I play with different materials, shapes and lines, allowing my intuition to create spontaneous marks and compositions with my main focus being the materiality of the piece. I perceive and create instinctively which I find very freeing and satisfying.
I approach each piece openly, not having an end result in mind, letting lines and shapes form freely and colours work together as a whole, building up a body of work that follows along with their constant unfolding.
There is a mindful and spiritual aspect to my practice that makes it deeply personal yet impersonal at the same time; my work emerges from within and from the outside world, evoking a tranquil atmosphere'.
